Barbaricum is seeking a Data Scientist to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center-Philadelphia Division with the analysis of HM&E machinery and ship control systems for sensor and control data on surface ship classes. Support includes performing analytical and algorithm software; engineering, technical, logistics, and program support for the development, prototyping, implementation and in-service support of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a set of techniques or analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software
  • Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets
  • Visualize, interpret, and report data findings
  • Create dynamic data reports

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a statistical, mathematical, computer science, or engineering discipline 
  • Five (5) years of experience in identifying trends and problems through complex big data analysis, leading efforts to combine analysis from multiple data sources using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining independently
  • Experience architecting scalable process solutions prepared with big data, data driven Machine Learning tools such as TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Pandas, and NumPy, Natural Language Processing, and implementing data models and developing data sources to support organizational solutions
  • Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of naval shipboard Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical systems preferred
