Barbaricum is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to support Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport (NUWCDIVNPT). This individual will work as part of a larger contracting group to provide support for NUWCDIVNPT Public Affairs Division’s need for technical and non-technical publications. The Technical Writer will be responsible for review and dissemination of publication.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, develop, write, edit, format, revise, proofread, publish, coordinate, produce, and facilitate distribution of technical and non-technical unclassified and classified publications
  • Review classified documents to verify limited dissemination controls, security markings, and corresponding downgrading statements correlate to the specified classification level
  • Update and maintain configuration management of NUWCDIVNPT serialized documents in the Technical Publications tracking system for Government review and approval
  • Provide and conduct annual ad hoc workshops on written and speech communications
  • Provide monthly written and speech communication guidance and expertise as it relates to creating and holding presentations to NUWCDIVNPT customers
  • Provide communication services to NUWCDIVNPT community with a focus on helping engineers and scientists better communicate their work to non-scientific and non-technical audiences
  • Provide recommendations on the publication type for incoming manuscripts and applicable resources
  • Transcribe NUWCDIVNPT recorded video presentations
  • Submit documents to Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) and complete primary distribution of publications

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret clearance required
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism preferred
  • Experience with Advanced Microsoft Office products
  • Experience writing, editing, publishing, and distributing technical publications for engineering and scientific audiences
  • Previous experience researching, analyzing, conducting interviews, and writing content in line with identified editorial themes while adhering to required style guides for publications geared towards engineering and scientific audiences
  • Ability to provide editorial guidance to subject matter experts and translate complex content into publications
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate technical writing staff and marketing outreach to educate customers
