Barbaricum is seeking a senior-level IT and Linux professional to support the US Strategic Command (STRATCOM) J61 in the Command and Control Facility (C2F) at Offutt AFB, NE. This team will provide IT engineering expertise for enterprise systems in the C2F to ensure the Command’s IT architecture and solutions will meet mission and enterprise capability requirements for Nuclear Command and Control, Cyber, Electromagnetic Spectrum Management, and Missile Defense. Some experience with Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise, direction, and oversight on Linux systems in support of Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3), Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4), and IT projects spanning USSTRATCOM's current and future missions.
  • Recommend and implement Linux-based technologies and develop strategies to meet USSTRATCOM's evolving infrastructure and capability requirements.
  • Design and optimize Linux-driven operational C4IT architectures, ensuring they align with Presidential, DoD, and USSTRATCOM's mission objectives.
  • Plan and execute duties as the designated Service Owner for 1) Linux Architecture & Engineering, and 2) Linux-based Cloud Integration.
  • Engage in Linux-centric technology market research, prepare business case analyses (BCAs) for leadership, and leverage national labs, industry, and academia best practices when crafting Linux-focused C4, IT, and NC3 solutions, architectures, and roadmaps.
  • Drive innovation in Linux systems by refining processes and developing/implementing/supporting validated solutions in areas like revision control, configuration management, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, and DevSecOps to meet future requirements of USSTRATCOM.
  • Provide comprehensive technical solutions on Linux systems engineering, emphasizing change control, configuration management, and streamlined update processes.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance
  • A minimum of 12 years' experience as an IT Subject Matter Expert with at least four years of documented experience with systems engineering and/or relevant technical systems engineering processes for USSTRATCOM. In lieu of experience, a Master’s degree in any engineering discipline or computer science can be substituted for six years of IT experience. A Bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline or Computer Science can be substituted for four years of IT experience.
  • Documented project management skills with a minimum of two years of monitoring, managing, and assessing progress of complex IT projects
  • Training or experience relevant to designing, deploying, and maintaining systems and capabilities that comply with DOD cybersecurity policies and regulations, DoD Software Modernization Policies, and DoD DevSecOps architectures
  • Training and experience on new techniques and software defined approaches for Platform as a Service (PaaS) and infrastructure
  • Some experience with Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) is desired
  • Maintain IAT Level II Certifications per DODI 8570.01-M (current CompTIA Security+ certification strongly desired)
  • Possess a minimum of five years' experience with strong written and oral communication skills, especially in the context of Linux systems and infrastructures. This includes the ability to develop and present complex written content and oral briefings on Linux-related topics to senior leaders at O-6 and SES/GS-15 levels or higher.
  • A minimum of five years' experience demonstrating the ability to work professionally and calmly with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other entities in a Linux or mixed environments
  • ITIL 4 experience or certification preferred
  • Familiarity with MOSA preferred
  • Open to ongoing skills enhancement through formal and ad hoc upskilling
